Daniel Oakes fell in love with acting in high school. He acted in his first play in his junior year and has been acting ever since. He has been lucky to be involved in many projects including being part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in the dramedy Facepaint, many shows for the Swarthmore Theater Department including Harold Pinter’s Betrayal and Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, and has film training and experience with not only Swarthmore students in projects like Transference and Call Time, but also with the New York Film Academy in Romina and Juliet. He has a Bachelor’s in the Arts from Swarthmore College in Theater and Biology and performed in and organized an improv troupe and a sketch comedy group during his college career.
Daniel is also a dancer, having a background in many styles like ballet, jazz, tap, modern, African styles, and Broadway styles. He has been dancing since middle school and would love to lend those talents to any project he is working on as it primes him to be a very physical actor. He also has choreography training and can lend himself as a choreographer if need be. To this effect, he won an award in Musical Theater when he graduated from high school. Apart from dance, he also has extensive fight scene training as both an actor and a choreographer and can perform fight scenes at a high level onstage or onscreen.
Daniel also engages in vocal training and is a baritenor. He has been in multiple musicals such as The Drowsy Chaperone and R3turn and would be very happy to offer his voice in any project.
